“Shoshone Relics” – From the Americana Series
Captured in Shoshone, California, 2024
In this black and white photograph, a collection of rusted relics sits quietly outside the Shoshone Museum — retro gas pumps, faded signage, twisted metal, and sun-bleached remnants of the roadside past. Time seems to have settled into every object, each one a fragment of a bygone era when the American West was crisscrossed by wanderers and wide-eyed travelers.
The monochrome tones highlight the textures of decay and memory: peeling paint, corroded steel, and the stark shadows cast by the desert sun. “Shoshone Relics” is a visual ode to forgotten things — the beautiful clutter of American history left in the dust but not entirely lost.
This image tells a story of stillness and survival, where nostalgia hangs in the dry air and every artifact hums with echoes of the road.
