We're Still in Kansas
In this black and white photograph, a steel sculpture rises from a windswept Kansas wheatfield — a cowboy mid-lasso, frozen in silhouette as he ropes an abstract cow. The grain sways gently in the foreground, while the stark metal forms cut sharp lines against the open sky. It’s a tribute to the mythos of the American West — rendered not in motion, but in monument.
The monochrome palette emphasizes the contrast between nature and manmade form: soft fields against hard steel, motion implied in stillness. “Prairie Sculpture” captures the spirit of rural Americana — a blend of folklore, artistry, and the enduring symbols of frontier life. This is a landscape where history lives not only in the land, but in the shapes we raise to honor it.
This picture was taken on a cross country road trip in the summer of 2024.
